About FitEyes
FitEyes has evolved over the last thirteen years into a global community focused on eye pressure research and glaucoma support. We have also contributed to the growing field of self-tonometry and patient-driven research.
We boast our very devoted, highly knowledgeable and empowered members, and the resulting richness of information on our site. This information includes, but is not limited to, articles, editorial content, published research, podcasts, and, more importantly, our valued community's reviews, posts, and interactions about their personal experiences. This content is intended for informational purposes only and is not medical advice.
As you browse through our site and archives, you may see that FitEyes is unlike most support groups. You may notice the absence of any mindset that favors a "misery loves company" approach. Instead, what you will find is a highly collaborative and motivated community proactively looking towards solutions and improvement.
This mindset is not a coincidence. FitEyes started as a simple blog in 2006, as a product of our visionary founder Dave, who took ownership of his diagnosis by devoting significant time and energy to studying his condition in great detail. By exploring self-monitoring of his eye pressure and studying lifestyle factors, he laid the groundwork for patient engagement and self-education. By routinely sharing his experiences and learnings via numerous blog posts over time, he inspired others with similar interests. To the point where today, this growing FitEyes community of several thousands includes not only patients, but also many leading ophthalmologists, and researchers.
FitEyes has long been supported by a committed (and overworked) volunteer force which now joins the core team in tackling the day-to-day operations of the FitEyes organization. Thank goodness for these volunteers who provide hundreds of hours of time; they include lawyers, accountants, researchers, computer programmers, mailing list and teleconference moderators, doctors, alternative practitioners, and more. We hope you will support this community through donations, and buying supplements and other vision-related products in our eStore. Please note that these products are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease.
As you become more familiar with FitEyes, regardless whether just as an observer or someone actively engaged in self-tonometry, we hope you will utilize the resources to gain broader perspective. We will be happy to see you engage with our community, sharing your experiences and learnings with others, so together we can explore, learn, and support one another in our journey with eye health.
