Ayurveda, the ancient health science of India, recognizes ghee as an essential part of a balanced diet, and considers it to be the best fat one can eat.

Ghee is even great on salads! Check out this superfood salad recipe for some ideas about adding ghee to a healthy salad.

Ghee is the very essence of butter; the end result of a long, slow, careful clarification process that removes all the moisture, milk solids and impurities. The absence of milk solids and water in ghee make it completely shelf stable. Ghee has one of the highest flash points (485ºF) which make this oil the best choice for high temperature cooking.

In Ayurveda, ghee is known as a substance that gives longevity, its elemental qualities balance the aging characteristics by enriching the living body.

Ghee has been used for centuries as a digestive and elimination aid, for energy, sexual vitality, skin and eye health, as a lubricant for the joints and for alkalizing the blood.

Ghee is relevant to anyone interested in maintaining optimal nerve and brain health due to its content of vitamins A, B-12, D and K as well as omega-3 fatty acids, CLA and butryic acid. Of course, this makes ghee a superfood for anyone concerned about glaucoma, Alzheimer's disease, Huntington's disease, multiple sclerosis, or any other chronic neurodegenerative disease.**

If you are a vegan or vegetarian, including some ghee in your diet may be the single most important thing you can do for your health. See these articles and videos for more information:

Our Mission
From the well nourished, nutrient rich soil to our food and finally our bodies, we recognize the interconnectedness of being.
Ancient Organics seeks to restore the health of the body, mind and earth through connecting communities with their local food systems.

Our Principles
Eat Good Fat: Essential fat is an important part of a balanced diet.
Humans Thrive On Balanced Energy: Good fat is digested easily, providing a sustainable source of energy to the body.
Local And Organic Rejuvenates: Eating Local and Organic provides higher nutrition, increased ingredient vitality and better taste, while supporting local farmers, reducing carbon expenditure and promoting waste-less consumption.
Honoring Tradition: Ancient cultures recognized the impact of season and time on the quality of food production. This knowledge and these practices provide the fundamental tools to create and maintain health in the present.

Our History
Ancient Organics was founded in 2003 by two Ayurvedic practitioners. While studying in India, they were taught the wide praises and benefits bestowed upon ghee by Ayurveda. Upon returning to the Bay area, they started making their own ghee. Using the tradtional methods they were taught in India combined with the Supreme quality of butter from their local creamery, Ancient Organics Ghee was born.
As requests increased from friends and family, it became clear Ancient Organics Ghee had particularly exquisite qualities. They knew much of this had to do with the source of their organic pastured butter: Straus Family Creamery, along with the strict adherence to the ancient techniques and considerations of ghee-making.
Today, Ancient Organics Ghee is sold in many natural grocery stores throughout the country while maintaining a strong presence in the Bay Area. Our uncompromising commitment to quality and authenticity sets the highest standard in the market today.
We would like to thank all the individuals who have supported our vision over the years through their generous donation of time and energy.
